Gerald P. McDole

Board Chairman

Born and raised in Manitoba, Gerald P.McDole holds a B.Sc. and a Certificate of Business Management from the University of Manitoba, a Business Administration Diploma from the University Of Toronto School Of Business and an MBA from Simon Fraser University in B.C

Gerald P.McDole retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca Canada Inc’s pharmaceutical operations at the end of 2003 after a long and distinguished career. He was appointed in April 1999 to lead the merger of Astra Pharma Inc. and Zeneca Pharma Inc.

Gerald is the Chairman of the Board of Sampling Technologies Inc. (STI), in 2002 was inducted into the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame.He and his wife spend their summers on their farm in Manitoba and winters in Mississauga.


C William Hayward

Director

C William Hayward is a former partner of Grant Thornton, Mr. Hayward is a retired management consultant and business executive. He is a Certified Management Consultant, Chartered Accountant, and Chartered Business Valuator. He was Director of Rates and Tariffs with Maritimes NRG, Amalgamation Coordinator for the Halifax Regional Municipality, and Executive Vice-President of N.S. Tractors and Equipment Ltd. His work has involved special studies and assignments in the areas of finance, systems, and organization

C William Hayward is the former CFO of STI, and currently is the vice chair of the Audit and Governance committees of STI’s board of directors. Graduating from Harvard business School with high distinction and a Baker Scholar in 1966, William soon took his talents to Grant Thornton, soon becoming a partner.


Thomas J. Hayes

Director

Thomas J. Hayes is President & CEO of GrowthWorks Atlantic Ltd.. Prior to an affiliate of GrowthWorks Capital taking over the management of the GrowthWorks Canadian Fund (formerly Working Ventures Canadian Fund) and the GrowthWorks Opportunity Fund (formerly the Working Ventures Opportunity Fund) (together the “GrowthWorks WV Funds”) in 2002, Tom was Vice President of Investments of those funds.

From 1982 to 1987, Tom served as Vice-President and then President of Atlantic Venture Trust, an institutional private venture capital fund for Atlantic Canada. As CEO of Atlantic Fish Specialties Ltd. from 1987 to 1997, Tom led the company through a major restructuring and turnaround resulting in the company being recognized as the top small business in Canada, winning the prestigious Canada Award of Business Excellence. Tom has also been awarded the Atlantic Canada Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the “Turnaround” category.

Tom has also served as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Premier in Nova Scotia and has been awarded an Atlantic Canada Entrepreneur of the Year Award.


Torsten Goesch

Director

Dr. Goesch has 20 years of general management, marketing & sales and M&A experience in the worldwide life science industry.  He was the head of strategy and acquisitions at Merck and the former commercial head at Merck Generics.  In this capacity has established a worldwide distribution infrastructure for one of the worldwide leading generic companies and grew the business from $100M to $400M within three years.  He also previously held the position of managing director for the German speaking region at Biogen  Here, he started operation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and led the newly launched product Avonex to a 40% market share within a year. He has been a Partner at Rosetta Capital, an investment and advisory boutique, since 2002.

Dr. Goesch is born in Germany in 1959 and holds an MD in internal medicine and a Dr. Degree prior and to obtaining an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in the USA.


Ari Buchler

Director

Ari Buchler, a senior executive with substantial operational, legal, administration and corporate transaction experience, joined STI’s Board of Directors in March of 2011. Ari has extensive experience working with various companies in legal aspect roles, most recently as Senior Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Services at Phase Forward Incorporated.  Ari joined Phase Forward in 1999 and helped lead the company through venture financings, M&A, IPO and its ultimate sale to Oracle Corporation in August 2010.

Born in Boston and raised in Israel, Ari received his BA from Hunter College of the City University of New York and his law degree from Columbia University.


Bill Adams

Vice President and General Manager of Diagnostics and Pharmacy Programs

Bill Adams is the Vice President and General Manager of Diagnostics and Pharmacy Programs with STI as well as a co-founder of STI.  In 2008 Bill was honoured to have been the recipient of the “Manning Innovation Award“for the successful invention and commercialization of STI. Bill graduated with both Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), from Dalhousie University providing a strong foundation for his career. This foundation combined with over 18 years of pharmaceutical industry experience provides Bill with ideas to grow and innovate by focusing on client brand challenges and developing optimal solutions to those challenges. Bill’s common sense approach and his focus in both the diagnostic and pharmacy sector assist him in making successful client programs that leverage the numerous benefits that can be realized by well executed programs delivered through pharmacy.

Bill lives in Halifax with his wife Lynne and despite his enjoyment of competitive sailing, he does not enjoy being hit by a cold Atlantic Ocean wave.

Steve Nicolle

Chief Executive Officer

Steve Nicolle joined STI as CEO in January of 2010, having spent the previous 10 years in CxO roles at venture-backed technology companies, including: CEO of Tatara Systems and Sigma Systems, COO at March Networks, Chairman of Searidge Technologies, and President of Nortel’s Service Provider eBusiness Solutions Group. 

Steve is a computer science graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Steve started his career at Bell Northern Research as a software developer before smarter minds realized he was much less dangerous as a manager than a programmer.  Steve is a dual, Canadian-American citizen and now shares his time between Boston, where he lives, and Halifax, where he works. 

Born in Prince Edward Island, Steve still has an affinity for mussels and potatoes and thinks poutine is the best food innovation in the last 100 years.
