Helping Canadians Take Care
InnoviCares provides payment assistance on more than 65 brand-name medications, all on one card.
Since 2012, the innoviCares card has helped more than 2.5 million Canadians save on their brand-name medications. The innoviCares card makes payment assistance simple by applying savings directly at the pharmacy, so patients don't have to worry about submitting claims or waiting for reimbursement.
How does innoviCares work?
Cards are downloaded from innoviCares.ca or obtained from physicians or pharmacists.
Patients present their innoviCares card and prescription to the pharmacy of their choice.
Pharmacists process the card as the secondary payer, coordinating it with any insurance plans.
The card pays a portion of the cost of the patient’s participating brand-name medication.

Frequently Asked Questions
It sounds too good to be true. Why would manufacturers subsidize the cost of their medications?
The innoviCares program is funded by participating pharmaceutical manufacturers who make their brands available on the platform, and was the first card in Canada to coordinate multiple manufacturers and their products on a single, agnostic, patient-focused program.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers may subsidize the cost of their medications for many different reasons, such as to help improve patient access to medications that may be outside of their financial means, as part of a broader patient support program, or to help remain competitive in the market.
For patients, it provides the freedom of choice to remain on a brand-name medication that they've grown to trust or are more familiar with, instead of being automatically switched to an alternative by their insurance or pharmacy.
What’s covered?
A full list of participating products can be found on the innoviCares website. Availability may vary by province, and benefits are subject to change or end over time at the manufacturer’s discretion.
How much does the card pay?
Depending on the benefit type and patient’s existing coverage, the card will pay all or some of the drug acquisition cost, applicable mark up, and dispensing fee.
